Enterprise Features
KioWare is designed for large enterprise deployments. From a kiosk software point of view, the main issues are:
- How to install and license KioWare
- How to initially configure KioWare
- How to update KioWare's configuration
Unattended Installation
The KioWare installation program fully supports an unattended installation mode where a script can be developed to run the installer with command line switches to enable installation, licensing (when volume licensing is not used), and configuration (using an XML file) all in a silent mode that does not require any user intervention.
Volume Licensing
KioWare supports volume licensing where all deployed licensed are tied to your organization rather than to the individual computer. This is particularly useful if you are using ghosted images for initial deployment, and for hardware replacement in the future.
XML Configuration
On start, KioWare can be configured to look for an XML file at a defined URL, and if one is found to read the XML and reconfigure itself on the fly. If the file is not found, then the current configuration is used. In addition, KioWare can be instructed to restart itself, so that a regular schedule of re-configuration can be developed.
